FY 2020 Donor Report
For 50 years, Howard Community College has provided high quality education to our community, and with the support of generous donors, the Howard Community College Educational Foundation (HCCEF) is able to provide funding, support, and scholarships to ensure that all students are able to pursue their educational goals. The challenges of 2020 have underscored the critical role that education plays in building a better future.
In the past fiscal year, the HCCEF raised a total of $2,384,814, vastly exceeding our goal of $1.5 million. Every donation counts, and this year the coronavirus increased the need for emergency funds dramatically. Fortunately, support from donors enabled the HCCEF to create a COVID-19 Emergency Helping Hands Fund that ensured students were able to finish their spring semester despite the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. In total, the HCCEF provided $1,776,804 in overall support for scholarships, programs, and grants from the foundation to the college.
The HCCEF events — HCC 5K Challenge Race, Silas Craft Collegians Dinner at Hunan Manor, and other smaller events — generated gross revenue of $239,127. Fundraising events are critical to the success of HCCEF efforts, introducing new supporters to the college and the foundation, connecting like-minded organizations, and growing the network of support for students and the college. The continued support for HCCEF events despite changes made in response to the coronavirus illustrates the inspiring dedication of our donors and event sponsors.
I am proud to begin my term as chairperson for the HCCEF board of directors this year, collaborating with a passionate group of individuals committed to the ongoing success of students.
