Howard Community College continues to grow and expand!
In August 2019, the college will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for two newly renovated academic buildings – Howard Hall (formerly the N Building) and Academic Commons (formerly the ST Building). The academic programs previously housed in the N and ST Buildings now reside in the new Science, Engineering, and Technology Building, which provided an opportunity to renovate the spaces to serve the current needs of the college and its students.
The renovated buildings support:
- Instructional space for the social sciences and teacher education areas, including labs for criminal justice, anthropology, and teacher education,
- Enhanced and expanded labs for the college’s hospitality and culinary management program, which doubles the culinary teaching kitchens, and
- Renovated event spaces, game room, and offices for student life.
Design, planning, and renovation construction funding was supported by the State of Maryland and Howard County; total cost $43.4 million, with $22.3 million from the county and $21 million from the state. The project began in fiscal year 2015
