FY 2019 Donor Report

Mary Cannon

As this year progresses, I am reminded daily about the transformational impact the Howard Community College Educational Foundation, Inc. (HCCEF) has on students. Foundation funds may help a struggling parent pay for classes and food for their family, or a recent high school graduate pay for books to pursue their dream of being an engineer, or a returning student pay for tuition while they take a break from their job to pursue an even brighter future. No matter what a student’s goal is at Howard Community College (HCC), giving truly makes a difference in HCC students’ lives.

Nearly half of all students receive some form of financial assistance during their time at HCC, and the scholarships provided by the HCCEF ensure students can afford college. The foundation is only successful in providing these funds because of our many generous donors. By funding pathways to success, donors transform the future for students, and their families. In fiscal year 2019, the HCCEF raised over $1.4 million to assist Howard Community College students. Every donation helps, and this annual report is an opportunity for the HCCEF to show its appreciation.

You also make a difference when you support our special events – the HCC 5K Challenge Race, Silas Craft Collegians Dinner at Hunan Manor Restaurant, and Vino Scholastico, which are critical to fundraising success. All event profits go directly to student scholarships. Our guests enjoy great events, and our students can stay focused on their academic goals knowing their financial burdens will be lessened as additional funds are raised.

I hope you enjoy reading this year’s annual report. I look forward to continuing our collaborations and funding pathways to success for HCC students.
