While pursuing an associate degree in event management at Howard Community College (HCC), Stacey was able to make some extremely meaningful, career-steering connections. One of those connections lead to an internship opportunity at Conference and Logistics Consultants, based in Annapolis, where Stacey hoped to gain experience to jumpstart her career. Ultimately, the internship turned in to a part-time paid position, and later a full-time paid position with the company.
“I got great exposure to the real work of event planning, and experienced firsthand how important teamwork is in the industry,” recalls Stacey. “It was awesome to plan events and then see how all of the pieces come together, plus I got to meet so many incredible people along the way.”
In 2018, leveraging the skills, experience, and connections she made during her earliest years as an event and meeting management specialist, Stacey made a bold and courageous decision. She launched her own event management firm – Ogren Meeting Management. The company offers comprehensive event logistics services, from site selection, space planning, and contract negotiations, to catering and audiovisual coordination, exhibit support, and agenda planning.
“There are so many details and logistics to account for when large meetings and events need to be planned, and my clients can rely on me to handle all of it,” said Stacey. “No two days are the same, and I thrive on the fast-paced nature of this business.”
Although it’s been a few years since Stacey graduated, she continues to credit HCC for paving the way for her success – not only as an event planning professional but also as an entrepreneur.
“The faculty at HCC took me under their wings, were incredible mentors, and had faith in me,” said Stacey. “I believe I am where I am today because of HCC and the support I got as a student there.”
