Samuel Murrill watched as his three older sisters graduated from HCC and continued on to pursue their career dreams. Their passion and enthusiasm for HCC motivated Sam to continue the family tradition of being a Dragon.
After high school, he enrolled at HCC and immediately saw the many resources and possibilities that HCC has to offer. Sam soon found himself heavily involved in the student community.
“My first semester provided me with excellent teachers, engaging coursework, and consistent opportunities to get involved in student life,” Sam said. “HCC allowed me to pursue my passion for leadership, eventually leading to me being elected president of the Student Government Association.”
In addition, Sam is a Rouse Scholar and ran on the track team during his first year at HCC. During his time at HCC, he has taken every opportunity to learn and grow as a student. “HCC has allowed my college experience to feel as genuine as it can be,” he said.
After he graduates in May 2019 with an associate degree, Sam plans to continue his studies at the University of Maryland Baltimore County in the field of communications.
“HCC has taught me to become my own person and follow through with who I am willing to be.”
