Naomi

Naomi first enrolled in classes at Howard Community College (HCC) when she was just a high school junior. As a homeschooled student, taking classes at HCC allowed Naomi to experience a college classroom environment and prepare for the next step in her education.
After graduating high school, Naomi continued to pursue her associate degree at HCC and participate in student life. “Being an honors student, participating in various clubs, and working on campus has allowed me to engage on a deeper level,” she said.
Naomi visited Chicago during an alternative spring break program with HCC’s Center for Service Learning, where she served food in homeless shelters and helped children with homework.
“I am looking to become a doctor in nursing practice (DNP), specializing in pediatrics, so having the opportunity to volunteer some time with children was eye opening and motivating,” said Naomi, “It’s an experience I never expected to have so early on in my college experience, and one I will absolutely never forget.”
Naomi, who is co-president of the Phi Theta Kappa honors society at HCC, will graduate with two associate degrees in general studies and social sciences in May 2019. She plans to transfer to the University of Maryland School of Nursing to someday fulfill her long-term goal of becoming a DNP.
