When Jazmon was considering colleges, he decided that he wanted to go to somewhere outside of his hometown while still being close to home. Since coming to HCC, the Dragons guard has been a slam dunk in the classroom and on the court, where he helped lead the men’s basketball team to their first NJCAA National Tournament appearance in over 20 years. “My experience at HCC has been the best years of school I’ve ever had,” he says. “Being involved with Howard PRIDE has helped me maintain a good GPA and remain focused while teaching me the importance of completing school.”
Off the court, Jazmon enjoys mentoring middle school students and teaching them how to play basketball. His extracurricular activities inspired him to switch his major from general studies to elementary education. “My ultimate career goal is to teach at an elementary school and help young people develop skills for their future,” he says. As for his future, Jazmon transferred to Penn State Harrisburg, where he is playing basketball for the Nittany Lions.
