Ephrata

Ephrata, who is currently studying science and physics, is following in the footsteps of her uncle, who also attended HCC. “He studied biology and said this is the best school,” and she agrees. Growing up in Ethiopia, she saw how desperately medical professionals are needed, and she eventually plans to pursue her medical degree and become a cardiovascular surgeon. After graduating from HCC, she wants to first pursue her Bachelor’s of Nursing degree and then move on to medical school.
Ephrata is grateful for scholarships she received to help with her studies. “I live alone, so it’s not only the educational fees that I have to worry about. I have rent and other bills, so the scholarships have allowed me to focus on my school work and not worry about how to pay my rent.” Her favorite class so far has been her biology course where she was able to perform dissections. She is also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honors society.
