Andrea's original plan was to attend a four-year college straight out of high school, but she soon realized she wouldn’t be able to afford any of the colleges she had set her heart on attending. Thanks to attending HCC, Andrea has graduated debt free with her associate degree, built an excellent academic record, and earned a full scholarship for the final two years toward her bachelor’s degree!
Although HCC hadn’t been Andrea’s “plan A,” she soon discovered that the support she found at HCC helped her flourish in ways she would not have at a four-year school. She says, “The tuition payment plan gave me the ease and ability to pay for college…it definitely took a huge weight off my shoulders.”
While at HCC, Andrea found a passion for communications, which she loves for its real-world relevancy. Andrea’s grades and leadership skills led to her selection as president of HCC’s chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society.
Reflecting on her HCC experience, Andrea said, “I got a chance to build up my resume and to network…I found my voice at HCC and I found an unwavering commitment to and passion for service. I found myself.”
