Howard Community College’s New Summer Noncredit Courses to Focus on Art, Wellness, History and ESL

This summer, Howard Community College is offering new noncredit continuing education courses that can help all residents explore their interests in art and wellness, and for residents ages 60+, an opportunity to learn more about history. A new Spelling for Success course will also be offered for residents who need to improve their English language skills. Below includes a full listing of new noncredit courses this summer:

Art & Wellness:

  • Oh Wait There’s More: Collage Techniques 
  • A Mosaic Bird Bath
  • Introduction to Yoga
  • Level I Yoga
  • Yoga and Core Strength
  • Yoga for a Balanced Mind and Body

60+:

  • Art Collecting 101: How to Select and Buy Art
  • Good Grief, It’s Grammar
  • History of the Civil War in Maryland
  • History of U.S. Presidential Assassinations

English as a Second Language:

  • Spelling for Success

Online registration is now underway; walk-in, fax, and mailed registrations starts May 7. Mailed brochures reach county residences the second week of May.

Hundreds of returning favorites cover course topics including business, computers and information technology, health care careers, adult basic skills, English as a Second Language, lifestyle and leisure, test preparation, and motorcycle safety. County residents also have the opportunity to explore topics online.

Most classes are grade-free and exam-free, except licensure/certification offerings. Businesses may also arrange customized training for groups of staff members on the company site or at the college’s business training facilities.
