Howard Community College Offers Assistance During Federal Government Shutdown
As the federal government shutdown continues, Howard Community College is assisting families to ensure that college education remains possible. Current or prospective students affected by loss of income should contact the Office of Enrollment Services, where staff will work one-on-one with impacted students. Payment arrangements can be made.
Additionally, students with disabilities who are receiving tuition waivers based on SSI or SSDI benefits from the federal government will be held and not dropped from their winter and spring classes during this time.
Howard Community College recognizes that the shutdown is an overwhelming time for affected families. The college offers personal counseling at no cost to students to ensure they have support and assistance.
“This is a challenging time for families in our community, and Howard Community College wants every affected student to continue to have access to pathways to success,” said Dr. Kate Hetherington, president of Howard Community College. “I urge both students and prospective students to reach out for assistance, as you need not navigate your educational future alone. Financial challenges should not be a barrier to a college education.”
