Howard Community College Names New Vice President of Information Technology

Linda Wu to Begin New Position January 16

Columbia, MD – Howard Community College has appointed Linda Wu as the new vice president of information technology. Wu has worked at Howard Community College (HCC) for over 20 years in positions of increasing responsibility. She started as a senior programmer/analyst and most recently served as director of administrative information systems. She will begin her new role on January 16, 2020.

As director of administrative information systems, Wu had responsibility for the leadership and administrative oversight of the college’s administrative software applications, databases, and technologies. A number of key college-wide initiatives have been accomplished during her tenure, including moving the college administrative software applications to the cloud and implementing a college-wide identity management system.

Wu has served on numerous committees and cross-campus teams during her 20 years at HCC. Among her honors was receiving administrator of the year in 2010. She also founded the college’s Friendly Campus initiative that invites faculty and staff to welcome new students, answer questions, and provide assistance each semester. Wu has experience presenting at numerous conferences and serving on national and statewide committees.

Prior to working at HCC, Wu worked as management information systems manager at Strayer University. She holds a bachelor of science in biology from the University of Maryland, College Park and a master of science in forensic science (information technology) from Stevenson University.
