Howard Community College Educational Foundation Raises over $189,000 in October and Highlights November Donors

The October fundraising totals are now in, and Howard Community College Educational Foundation (HCCEF) has raised over $109,000 from at the ninth annual 5K Challenge Race, and over $70,000 from the President’s Gala. HCCEF also highlights November’s supporters who made gifts or pledges of $5,000 or more. All proceeds will be going to benefit student scholarships, programs, and services.

On Sunday, October 9, nearly 370 participants flocked to the college’s campus to walk, run, climb and crawl through an obstacle-filled course for the ninth annual 5K Challenge Race, presented by Havtech. With support from 47 sponsoring organizations and companies, in addition to college employee, student, and alumni teams, HCCEF raised over $109,000 to support student scholarships.

For the first year, Columbia Association took home the overall Corporate Challenge Championship. Sponsoring organizations also competed for one of the five challenges, with winners as follows: Havtech (Design and Construction Challenge); M&T Bank (Finance Challenge); In-Depth Engineering (Information Technology Challenge); Davis, Agnor, Rapaport & Skalny (Professional Services Challenge); Corporate Office Properties Trust (Real Estate Challenge); Driven (Challenge Award).

The tenth annual HCC 5k Challenge Race will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2023.

On Saturday, October 15, Howard Community College celebrated the installation of the college’s fifth president, Dr. Daria Willis, by hosting the President’s Gala and raising over $70,000. More than 420 guests attended the gala at the Kossaikoff Center at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory and enjoyed cocktails, dinner, and dancing.

The HCCEF is thankful for the many donors who help aid the mission of funding pathways to success for students at Howard Community College. November’s supporters who made a gift of $5,000 or more are:
