Howard Community College Announces Women’s Lacrosse Head Coach
Columbia, Maryland – Howard Community College (HCC) Athletic Director Diane Schumacher announced on Monday the appointment of Joe Valentino as the new head coach of the college’s women’s lacrosse team, effective immediately.
“I believe that Joe will be a good fit here at HCC,” Schumacher said. “He is committed, enthusiastic, and eager to start coaching right away.”
Prior to joining HCC, Valentino was the head coach with The Academy of The Holy Cross girls’ junior varsity lacrosse team. He was also the head coach and a volunteer assistant coach of the Rebels Lacrosse Club, as well as the offensive coordinator for St. Vincent Pallotti High School in Laurel.
As the head coach of the girls’ lacrosse Howard County Youth Recreational Lacrosse program, Valentino was chosen as the head coach of the league’s all-star league game in 2013. He was also picked as an assistant coach for the league’s showcase game in 2012.
Valentino earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal science from York College of Pennsylvania and has coached youths in lacrosse, baseball, softball, and ice hockey.
His coaching philosophy is to always be positive and to always be prepared.
“I want the team to be ready to put forth maximum effort every time they take the field,” said Valentino. “The results will follow.”
