Fourth Annual HCC 5K Challenge Race Promotes Wellness, Raises Funds for Student Scholarships
For the fourth year, more than 500 employees from over 50 sponsoring companies and organizations will run, climb, and crawl their way to the finish line on October 29, 2017, for the Howard Community College (HCC) 5K Challenge Race. The event provides opportunities to promote health and corporate wellness along with teambuilding, while raising funds for student scholarships.
The Howard Community College Educational Foundation has partnered with the Columbia Association, providing onsite personal trainers at weekly trainings, and GymGo, a new virtual training option to 5,000-plus employees as an extra benefit to participating organizations.
The HCC 5K Challenge Race training opportunities differentiate this race from other running events. The event specifically targets businesses, organizations, and community groups, with corporate team sponsorships starting at $750, and $300 for community teams. Employees of sponsoring companies and members of community teams are invited to weekly trainings and receive tips to improve overall health and wellness.
The HCC Educational Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports HCC and its students, expects to raise more than $100,000 for student scholarships through the event.
Sponsorships are still available for businesses and corporations. Individuals wishing to form community groups should contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
