Building a New Future at Howard Community College
Proud to be a part of Columbia’s beginnings, Howard Community College has come a long way since its doors first opened in 1970. Back then, the college was just one building, 42 classes, and the Commencement ceremony was held in the college’s parking lot. As Columbia has grown over the last 50 years, HCC has also transformed, with over a dozen buildings and 30,000 students enrolled in a variety of classes. HCC's newest Science, Engineering, and Technology building is opening for summer classes.
The Business Monthly recently included a story about HCC’s journey through the decades in a special section celebrating Columbia’s 50th anniversary. Read the full article in their latest issue.
