Howard Community College Concert Series Presents Trio of Faculty Concerts This Spring

Presented virtually in March, May, and June

COLUMBIA, MD – The Howard Community College (HCC) Music Concert Series announces three spring 2021 faculty concerts to help patrons enjoy the spring season.

The first concert, Call to Spring, features pianists Wei-Der Huang and Hsien-Ann Meng of the Octtava Piano Duo and beloved Columbia-based guitarist Bruce Casteel. The program celebrates the coming of spring with works for the solo guitar by William Byrd, M. Brayssing, and Antonio Lauro, concluding with two Irish tunes, and works for piano duo by William Bolcom and Darius Milhaud. Ticket holders may view the concert at their convenience through March 26, 2021.

The second concert in this series, One the Wings of Spring, showcases exquisite works for solo flute by G. Telemann and Valerie Coleman and works for cello/piano duo by Debussy, Fauré, and Cassadó. The program features performances by HCC faculty Melissa Lindon, flute; I-Hsuan Chiang, cello; and Sangmi Yoon, piano. Ticket holders may view this concert at their convenience from May 10–24, 2021.

Rounding out the series is Ode to Beethoven, a belated salutation to the composer's 250th birth year. Featuring performances by HCC faculty Yoon Young Bae, violin; Yoon Nah Cho, cello; Hsien-Ann Meng, piano; and Lisa Rehwoldt, piano, the program includes the one-movement Beethoven Piano Trio in B-flat major, WoO. 39, Rubinstein Melody in F arranged for the piano trio, and Beethoven Piano Sonata, Op. 81a "Les Adieux.” Ticket holders may view this concert at their convenience from June 7– 21, 2021.

Tickets are $10 and available to purchase online at howardcc.edu/concerts. Ticket holders for each concert will receive a link and password via email confirmation.

The Horowitz Center Box Office is currently operating remotely.
