Howard Community College (HCC) marked 50 years of graduates at its 2021 virtual commencement ceremony May 27. The college celebrated 1,293 students who were candidates for graduation, collectively earning 1,448 associate degrees and certificates.

HCC student Amira Cooper heard about the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation’s Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship two years ago. She learned that alumni of her HCC honors program had previously won the prestigious national award. So she decided to apply.

May 7 marks the digital release of this year’s Journal of Research in Progress (JRIP), HCC’s peer-reviewed student academic research publication. The 9 papers selected represent the work of 16 student researchers and 12 research mentors.
