Howard Community College Wins National Emerging Leadership Award from American Association of Community Colleges
Howard Community College (HCC) has been named the winner of the 2014 Emerging Leadership Award by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), honoring the visionary work of the college and its president, Dr. Kate Hetherington, in creating a campus culture that supports employee leadership advancement at all levels. Dr. Hetherington accepted the award on behalf of the college at AACC’s annual Awards of Excellence Gala, held earlier this month in Washington, D.C. Dr. Hetherington was praised for her efforts to provide in-house professional development opportunities for faculty and staff, as well as her work in developing and growing the college’s nationally-recognized coaching program, Step Up, which connects students with faculty or staff coaches.
Award winners were selected by a committee of the AACC Board of Directors. For more information on the AACC, visit www.aacc.nche.edu.
