    • Teaching Global Competency Time: 12:30pm - 1:50pm Locations: DH 100 Details:

      This presentation will share the teaching of Global Competency and Ethics in anthropology and geography classes, which help develop our students’ awareness of ethical reasoning for global issues and respect for cultures outside of their own experiences.  This presentation will also demonstrate several active learning strategies, including employment of lapboards, gamification and mobile technology to help keep students engaged.

    • Sometimes There Isn’t an Answer: Using Observations and Reflections to Come to Understanding Time: 2:30pm - 3:30pm Locations: DH 100 Details:

      When learning about, working with, or visiting people/locations different from what we know, often we are left with questions. Observing and reflecting are ways to come to answers, as is engaging others by asking questions. The presenters will lead participants through practices that they have used successfully in classes, on study abroad, and on Alternative Winter Break.
