    • Communicating Across Cultures (Diversity Index # 3226) Time: 10:50am - 11:50am Locations: Gateway Details: This workshop builds cross-cultural communication skills to support having quality relationships at work. Participants will receive an overview of the dimensions of culture and the impact for effective communication. Individuals will participate in a series of activities to outline their cultural identities and the aspects they most appreciate. The session concludes with a “cultural exchange” session.
       
       
    • Student/Disabilities Etiquette (Diversity Index # 3275) Time: 10:50am - 11:50am Locations: Gateway Details:

      If a student came into your office who was hearing/vision impaired, would you know how to communicate with him/her? Should you push a student in a wheelchair if it looks like he/she is having difficult going up hill? Learn how to handle such situations.

       
       
    • Building Trust in a Diverse Work Environment (Diversity Index # 3022) Time: 1:40pm - 2:40pm Locations: Gateway Details: In environments where diverse groups of people live and work together, there is always a danger that we will give our unconscious biases voice and hurt people unintentionally. The way we react to these incident can have an impactful and lasting effect on our relationships. How do to mend fences after we've made a mistake? How do we build trust across diverse groups of people while still encouraging open dialogue? This interactive workshop with encourage those questions and push participants to see their blind spots and go pass them in order to encourage dialogue. We will also engage in activities that will enable participants to build their own "relationship repair kit" to take with them in their personal and professional lives.
       
       
    • Basic Sign Language (Diversity Index # 3193) Time: 2:50pm - 3:50pm Locations: Gateway Details:

      In this course you will be introduced to some of the basics of American Sign Language. Learn how to sign the alphabet, colors, numbers, say hello, goodbye, thank you, finger-spell your name as well as other basic phrases.
