      A Harlem Renaissance Speakeasy: Featuring Jazz and Live Poetry from the 1920s
      Presented by Arts Collective and the Howard County Poetry and Literature Society
      Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 7:30p.m.

      HoCoPoLitSo and Arts Collective partner to create a transcendent evening of live jazz, poetry, and visual art from the 1920’s Harlem Renaissance. Explore the power of words from writers such as Langston Hughes and music from artists such as Duke Ellington within a not-to-be-missed speakeasy atmosphere evocative of the era. Join in the celebration of HoCoPoLitSo’s 45th anniversary with this unique historical exploration of the art that transformed our world. Period attire encouraged!

      Purchase tickets by phone or in person
      Ticket may be purchased during normal operating hours. All sales are final. The Horowitz Center Box office does not issue refunds. All patrons, regardless of age, must have a ticket.

      Print-at-Home & Mobile Tickets 
      We have an exciting new option for ticket sales. Instead of getting a physical (hard) ticket from the Horowitz Center Box Office, patrons can now print tickets at home minutes after making your purchase. 

      Accessible seating is reserved primarily for patrons with disabilities and their guests. For performances in the RCF-400, accessible seating is on floor level. Please note that while these seats are designated as accessible seating, all seats in the theatre are available to all patrons for purchase. For personal assistance selecting accessible seats or for more information about accessibility for a person with a disability, please contact the Horowitz Center Box Office at 443-518-1500 ext. 0

    • Study Abroad Scholarship Writing Workshop Time: 3:00pm - 4:30pm Locations: DH 118 Details: During this workshop a representative from the Office of International Education will break down the scholarship writing process and procedures one should take when writing a scholarship essay. Students will learn about what considerations and qualifications the scholarship committee is looking when awarding applicants. Throughout eh workshop, students will have access to computers to take notes, begin writing, editing, and finalizing their scholarship essays.

    • Visit with ACEN Time: 4:30pm - 5:30pm Locations: Health Sciences Building (HS 163) Details:

      Howard Community College will host a site visit by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) from October 15–17, 2019. The college is seeking continuing accreditation for its associate of arts degree in nursing and licensed practical nursing certificate.

      As part of its process, ACEN invites members of the public to submit third-party written and oral third-party comments about the program. The public is invited to meet with the site visit team and share comments about the program in person at a meeting scheduled for Wednesday, October 16, from 4:30–5:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Health Sciences Building, room 163.

      Written comments may be submitted directly to ACEN by mail via Dr. Marsal Stoll, chief executive officer, Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, 3343 Peachtree Road Northeast, Suite 850, Atlanta, GA 30326 or by email to mstoll@acenursing.org.
