      New students are strongly encouraged to attend New Student Orientation. Of the new students who attend orientation, over 80 percent return the following spring, compared to 60 percent of those who do not attend an orientation. Learn how to be successful academically, meet new and experienced students, and learn about the resources that will INSPIRE your success at Howard Community College!

      Join HCC's Apprenticeship team in this virtual networking event to learn about the college's Biomedical Engineering Technology (BMET) Apprenticeship program. This event will include a presentation that will give an overview of our program and how it can benefit your business. Additionally, a representative from the Maryland Department of Labor will be present to help answer questions you may have regarding incentives and tax benefits.

      Want to turn a hobby into a career? Have an interest in 3D printing? Need to update your skills. Explore HCC’s new Additive Manufacturing Certificate program, launched in 2019.  In this program, you will learn the difference between 3D printing (a fun hobby) and Additive Manufacturing (a great career).  Gain training that will prepare you for immediate employment in “next-gen manufacturing”.  This program features extensive opportunities to operate a wide variety of state-of-the-art 3D printers and 3D scanners.

      INSPIRES is a year-long faculty and staff professional development program that gives small groups of colleagues the opportunity to undertake in-depth exploration of a global topic. Projects in recent years have focused on Cuban literature, Chinese politics and society, global food systems, and support for international students, to name just a few.

      Members of INSPIRES project teams determine their own meeting schedule and learning outcomes, and projects are applied to MAPs or Annual Plans to meet diversity and professional growth requirements.

      The fifth annual Women+ in Theatre Conference

      The fifth annual Women+ in Theatre Conference will be held on August 22, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Horowitz Center at Howard Community College. Hosted by Rep Stage, the mission of the Women+ in Theatre Conference is to provide an opportunity for women+ theatre practitioners to network with one another and develop strategies that further the cause of gender equality within the industry and beyond. The 2020 conference will include a keynote address by Lady Dane Figueroa Edidi, a facilitated speed-networking session, a design panel, readings of winning plays from the 10-minute play contest, and a conference expo. The day will conclude with an excerpt from Lady Dane Figueroa Edidi's Ghost/Writer, a new play featured in Rep Stage's 2020-2021 season.

       

      Registration Opens March 1, 2020
      Registration Fee includes a light breakfast, lunch, and a reception, and display space on a shared table at the expo.
