[CANCELED] Rina Yoon, Visiting Artist Exhibition: “Curiosity and Power of Large Scale Collagraph” : ARTIST RECEPTION Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm Locations: Richard B. Talkin Family Art Gallery Details:

Curiosity & Power of Large Scale Collagraph

Rina Yoon PostcardCollagraph is a non-toxic intaglio printmaking technique that allows artists to produce large scale prints in which the marks and textures resembles those of traditional etchings without the use of any harsh acids.

Using plastic surfaces such as Sintra or Plexiglas students will explore various ways of achieving tonalities, textures, and painterly marks on a plate. Several other alternative options of using shaped plates, transferring photocopy images and mixed media collagraph will be introduced.

Rina Yoon’s work focuses on non-traditional printmaking methods including large scale prints, paper installations, multi-media work combining video and sculptural elements with printmaking. Driven by curiosity and sensitivity to materials, Yoon often embraces slow processes to allow time for reflection and meditation. Professor Yoon is the Head of the Printmaking Program at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design. Yoon’s work has been widely exhibited in the United States as well as South Korea, China, India, Italy and Poland.
