      Columbia, Maryland –  Continuing the tradition of bringing compelling, dynamic, and powerful art to the greater Baltimore region, Howard Community College (HCC) has opened two new exhibitions in the college’s galleries, which will be on display through April, 2022.

      Howard Community Colleges Department of Music and Visual Arts, In partnership with Common Ground On The Hill Maryland Folklife Center and Appalachian Bluegrass Shoppe proudly present, Appalachian Spring. An exhibition of paintings and rare musical instruments celebrating American Folk and Bluegrass music of the Appalachian region. In addition to the exhibit, three musical performances and a lecture with a discussion panel will explore the musical history of Appalachia.

    • January Saturday Enrollment Hours Time: 10:00am - 2:00pm Locations: The Rouse Company Foundation Gallery Details:

      Howard Community College is offering special Saturday hours on January 22 and 29 to help you apply, register, and prepare for the upcoming spring semester. Enrollment services are available on campus and virtually. In-person services are all located in the Rouse Company Foundation Services Hall (RCF). Additionally, the Bookstore and the Cashiers Office will also be open 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Public Safety will be available for you to obtain your student photo identification card.       Admissions and Academic Advising:

      Students may connect with an academic advisor from 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

      You may join Virtual Pop-In Advising from the comfort of your home by logging in here.

      Financial Aid:

      If you need assistance with completing the financial aid and/or scholarship application process, meet with one of our financial aid representatives online or in person from 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

      Records, Registration and Veterans' Affairs:

      The Records, Registration and Veteran’s Affairs Office will be available virtually and in person from 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

      Please note: Veterans Affairs will be onboarding new military/veteran students on Saturday, January 29.

      Test Center:

      The Test Center will offer in-person services on Saturday from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Students will have the opportunity to take their placement exams on campus at this time.

      The Test Center will offer virtual English placement tests by appointment at 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. Schedule an English placement test appointment by visiting our website or by going directly to the scheduling page. Once you schedule your appointment, you will receive an email with further instructions.

      Students may take their math test remotely at any time through this link: www.howardcc.edu/aleks.

Following the economic collapse of a company town in rural Nevada, Fern (Francis McDormand) packs her van and sets off on the road exploring a life outside of conventional society as a modern-day nomad. Nomadland is a work of exploration, and not just across the sprawling American West. Fern is exorcising her darkest demons, which spring from the systemic neglect that has been visited on so many Americans in recent years.
