Gallery Exhibit: A House Divided (Opens)

We are currently living in a politically and socially polarized society that has blurred the lines of private and public, opinion vs fact and where one's perceived entitlement to freedom counters the perceived basic human rights of others. • TRUE WEST
TRUE WEST Time: 7:00pm - 9:00pm Locations: Studio Theatre (Reserved Seating) Details:

      “True West”

      By Sam Shepard
      Directed by Vincent Lancisi
      April 26–May 13, 2018

Well-educated Austin and thieving con man Lee, estranged brothers from different worlds, reunite in their mom’s California kitchen, where Austin is working on his screenplay.  But when Lee comes up with his own idea and steals much more than just the neighbors’ TV, challenges are issued, many drinks are downed, and the siblings find that they might not be such opposites after all.  Sheppard’s explosive, darkly funny American classic is a tale of sibling rivalry, Hollywood producers and stolen toasters.

“It's clear, funny, naturalistic. It's also opaque, terrifying, surrealistic. If that sounds contradictory, you're on to one aspect of Shepard's winning genius; the ability to make you think you're watching one thing while at the same time he's presenting another." - San Francisco Chronicle

      Ticket Information:

      Thursdays only

      • We will now offer $10.00 single tickets for ALL Thursday performances, including the Thursday previews. These tickets will go on-sale one month before the opening of each production.  The Heidi Chronicles Thursday single tickets will go on sale on MARCH 26, 2018.
      • Memberships may be purchased for Thursday at the full membership price

    • The Wonder of Chopin and Mendelssohn Time: 4:00pm - 6:00pm Locations: Monteabaro Recital Hall Details:

      Bo Li, Cello (guest)

      Kuei-I Wu, Piano

Neither Chopin nor Mendelssohn devotes many of their compositions to cello and piano. Nevertheless, the very few pieces they wrote for cello and piano duo embody a rich mid-19th century treasure in the repertoire, leaving us wondering and wishing for more. The Li/Wu duo returns to HCC to present these beautiful works including cello sonatas by Chopin and Mendelssohn.
