Join us for a virtual performance and lecture on the life and music of Florence Price and Margaret Bonds. The program will feature Price’s Sonata in E Minor and Bond’s Troubled Water.

Dr. Monica Tripp-Roberson is a recognized performer, composer, and music educator. As a pianist, she has performed throughout the United States to rave reviews. She has been featured on public television in Jacksonville, FL. Her piano playing has been described as “passionate and energetic.”

As a composer, Dr. Roberson has composed various pieces ranging from solo to symphonic works. Her music has appeared in master classes with world-renowned vocalist, Dawn Upshaw. She has won several composition competitions such the Margaret Blackburn Composition Competition.

Dr. Roberson is also a writer and publisher. She has written several articles for Salem Press’s biographical and analytical publication of Musicians and Composers of the 20th Century as well as Great Lives from History: African Americans. In these publications, she provides research on the life and music of various African American composers and musicians. Dr. Roberson has given lecture presentations at various colleges and national conferences at the International Alliance for Women in Music (IAWM) on the topic of African American women in music.
