#USPEAK (Diversity Index # 7567)
These sessions are designed to empower students and our campus community to provide power to their own voices in what is considered to be a brave space.
What is a Brave Space? - The use of the term brave space is intentional in opening the space to encouraging dialogue, where we can recognize differences and holding individuals accountable to do the work of sharing experiences and coming to new understandings. This is a shift from the idea of creating just safe spaces, where the intentional goal is providing support.
We aim through the #USPEAK process with our facilitators to discuss campus climate, build on our previous conversations, and continue building strategies for making our campus community even stronger. During our previous dialogues the interactions between students, faculty, and staff led to meaningful dialogue about our campus community and strategies for improvement.
