Safe Zone Training (Diversity Index # 4440)
The Safe Zone is a program aimed to train faculty and staff to become allies to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) students. Allies are trained to provide a safe, supportive, and respectful environment for students. They are also equipped to provide information and resources. The training contains information about terminology, identity development, communication and other important issues affecting the LGBTQ community. The overall goals are to enhance awareness, increase knowledge, and build skills as it relates to working with LGBTQ students, with emphasis on unique features of remote learning environments.
