The president’s team consists of the president; vice presidents; executive director of planning, research, and organizational development; executive director of public relations and marketing; and the executive associate to the president. The team manages the operations of the college and receives recommendations from the functional units, planning council, and college council.
Lynn Coleman, Vice President of Administration and Finance
Ms. Coleman's responsibilities include building, safeguarding, and guiding the college’s physical, financial and human infrastructure. Under her leadership, the administration and finance division consists of finance, human resources, plant operations, security, capital projects, insurance, bookstore, food service and sustainability initiatives. Cindy Peterka, Vice President of Student Services
Dr. Peterka provides leadership of a comprehensive range of strategic initiatives, services, policies, and procedures with the goal of supporting students' success. She oversees the offices of admissions and advising, records, registration, and veterans affairs, financial aid services, counseling and career services, athletics, student life, the learning assistance center, the test center, the welcome and information center, student conduct, and the Children's Learning Center. Jean Svacina, Vice President of Academic Affairs
In her role as vice president, Dr. Svacina's vision and direction guide HCC's academic policies, procedures, and programs. She provides leadership, management and supervision of all academic divisions including the continuing education and workforce development division, as well as teaching and learning services, the Center for Service Learning, international education, eLearning, and instructional enrichment programs. Linda Wu, Vice President of Information Technology
Ms. Wu is responsible for Howard Community College’s technological vision, providing direction to the college’s information technology areas. She collaboratively develops the strategic planning, implementation, and maintenance of the technology environment, ensuring that it aligns with the college’s initiatives. Ms. Wu provides leadership to and is responsible for the success of administrative information systems which includes web services; information security which includes cybersecurity; student computer support which includes audio visual services; user and network services which includes the Technology Service Center and the print shop. Elizabeth Homan, Executive Director of Public Relations and Marketing
Ms. Homan leads HCC’s efforts in strategic communications, public relations, and marketing, which includes the oversight of social media, marketing, creative services, photography, and the college website. In addition, she strengthens government relations outreach by serving as a liaison to legislators at both the state and county levels. She also co-chairs the enrollment management team. Zoe Irvin,Executive Director Planning, Research, and Organizational Development
As executive director of planning, research, and organizational development, Ms. Irvin serves as HCC's accreditation liaison officer, monitors the achievement of the institutional effectiveness plan, and is responsible for providing research design, evaluation and planning services, as well as the development and implementation of best practices at HCC. Linda Emmerich, Executive Associate to the President
