Office of the President

Dr. Hetherington Speaking with Students
Providing pathways to success.  It's much more than our mission. It's an expression of our commitment to the community we serve. We provide students with educational opportunities that will take them wherever they want to go – admission to a four-year college or university, employment in a rewarding career or the attainment of personal goals. We offer an affordable education to prepare students for the workforce of the future. We also embrace our role as a cultural and business force in the community, where all students and employees feel supported and empowered on their personal pathways to success. As a 2019 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award winner in education, Howard Community College (HCC) is committed to quality improvement and service excellence. This award is the nation’s only presidential-level honor for performance excellence in organizations.

HCC is a vital part of life in Howard County, enrolling over 26,000 students annually in credit and noncredit programs. Even in the current COVID-19 pandemic environment, our college is an exciting hub of education and discovery. Academic programs and a wide variety of college services are offered remotely so that you can continue on your pathway to success with as little disruption as possible.

If you are new to Howard Community College, our website gives you a sense of all the good things that the college is offering. If you're a student, alumnus, employee or visitor, thanks for being part of it all!

Warmest regards,

Kathleen Hetherington, Ed.D.
President
