Each semester, we explore the historical and cultural context of works of literature from or about Asia. For the Fall 2022 semester, we will read a novel The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen set in 70’s in Saigon. A black comedy, historical novel, literary thriller, and critique of the social and political, the book won a Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 2016.
