What You Need To Know

Howard Community College is committed to the advancement of learning, the culture of civility, the valuing of diversity and the promotion of service to society. We value the dignity and worth of every person.  HCC promotes the growth of all people by creating an environment that allows people to exchange ideas in a polite and professional manner.  We listen to one another with consideration and respect, allowing for different viewpoints. We take responsibility for our actions and demonstrate concern for others and the environment. HCC values innovation, nurturing, sustainability, partnerships, integrity, respect, excellence and service while providing a place to discover greatness in yourself and others.

Parking and Getting to Campus

As the campus grows, parking is becoming harder to come by. Plan to arrive on campus at least 20 minutes before your class starts to allow time to find parking and to get to class.

To help alleviate the parking crunch, HCC has set up an off-site parking area at the Wilde Lake Shopping Center. A shuttle runs every 15 minutes from the shopping center to RCF Hall beginning at 7:00 a.m. – a one-way trip takes less than 5 minutes!

Green Campus

Sustainability - balancing social, environmental and economic issues today to preserve the Earth's resources for future generation, is a core value at HCC .

Current sustainability programs at HCC include single stream recycling and competing in the national Recyclemania competition each year. The college's Environmental Club conducts a Dumpster Dive on Earth Day, in addition to other programs, and HCC hosts the Howard County annual Greenfest each year. The entire campus has been designated an Arboretum and a series of Nature Trails will take you on a tour of wildlife habitats and native plants. Do your part to clean up, recycle, and keep our campus clean and green!
