On a Windows system

• Click Start and choose Run. 
• Type in cmd and press enter to bring up a command prompt.  On the command prompt window, type  ipconfig  /all  and press enter.
• Scroll up and down to view the information.  Look for the physical (MAC) address for your wireless network device.  Note that there may be more than one network device.
• Copy the address very carefully; one mistake means you will not connect to HCC’s wireless network.

On a Macintosh system (OS X 10.3)

• Under the Apple menu, go to System Preferences.
• Choose Network.
• From the "Show" pull-down menu, choose AirPort (or your wireless card).
• Your wireless MAC address is the Airport ID.  
• Copy the address very carefully; one mistake means you will not connect to HCC’s wireless network.

By the way, what is a MAC address?
The simplest explanation is that the MAC (Media Access Control) address is a unique number (or combination of letters and numbers) assigned to your computer's physical wireless or other network card.   Each system that connects to a network needs to have a unique physical address, or connectivity problems may occur.
