Internships with the Office of the Public Defender, Ellicott City, MD

Program Description:

  • Interns will assist in the defense of criminal cases in the various County Circuit, District, and Juvenile Courts.  Interns are teamed with attorneys and assist with cases, which range in seriousness from misdemeanor theft to homicide. 
  • Duties will include:  filing motions and legal memoranda; participating in case planning and preparation for trial, hearings, and/or sentencing; witness coordination; and assisting attorneys at court hearings and trials


Internship Opportunity for Business and Entrepreneurship Students

BASE Business Initiative (BBI)

BASE  Business Initiative (BBI) seeks a qualified senior level student interested in an opportunity to work with the business community in the Fort Meade region.  Primary responsibilities are assisting the Networking Committee as the Match-Up subcommittee chair, supporting BBI (small business) partners seeking to do business with the government and large prime contractors.  Applicants should have strong attention to details, excellent written and oral communication skills, and an interest in networking with the business community.

Junior Achievement

Develop program and marketing materials for JA programs

  • Assist with on-site teacher training and simulation support, and collaborate with the program team to determine best strategies for implementation of the JA Finance Park Virtual program
  • Interpret results of measurement tools which gauge student's knowledge and behavior gains that result from participation in JA programming using existing assessments and established data measuring tools
  • Organize data to develop county-specific and region-specific impact summaries
  • Disseminate results of data to organizational stakeholders - colleagues, board members and the general public
  • Collaborate with the development team to translate data into grant writing and fundraising initiatives
  • Engage with the development team to assist in additional grant writing efforts
  • Support Operations and Special Events
