Our Website:
Research Tools:
Our WebCat is:
- our online catalog—we no longer maintain a wood-and-paper catalog;
- an inventory of the 50,000+ items on our shelves (books, videos, CDs, etc.);
- the access point for our growing collection of electronic books (eBooks);
- organized by the Library of Congress call number and classification scheme;
- freely available from any Internet connection, on or off the HCC campus.
Our Electronic Resources are:
- probably the most popular resource among HCC students;
- convenient for finding, reading, and printing full-text articles from encyclopedias, newspapers, magazines, and professional journals;
- our best resource for locating periodical articles (print collection is limited, and we have no microforms);
- sometimes hard for students to distinguish from the open Internet—be sure to specify to them what you mean when you tell them to “search online”;
- searchable from any Internet connection, on or off campus—off-campus access requires a current student, faculty or staff user ID and password, but information on how to create this password is presented on-screen at the time of login.
Our Information Literacy Classes are:
- fun and flexible—work with our experienced and creative teaching staff to develop an exercise specific to your students.
- highly recommended for new adjuncts and their students;
- held in room L214, the Library's computer classroom, or depending on your students' needs we can come to your classroom.
Please note: Instructors must be present for each workshop session. Library staff cannot take attendance, accept homework assignments, or substitute teach.
