The Learning Assistance Center (LAC) provides academic support services to all credit students enrolled at Howard Community College who would like to become more successful and efficient learners.

LAC is collaborating with Instructional Media to support students who need assistance with technology-mediated assignments.
• MS Office Suite – including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Publisher
• Web Tools – WordPress, Wikispaces, Weebly, Glogster, Blogger and many others
• Audio Tools – Audacity, Garage Band
• Video Tools – Moviemaker, iMovie, Screencast-o-matic, Jing
• Canvas – accessing and uploading resources
• Math Calculators: Limited assistance with the math calculators and proprietary software used by other disciplines.

Scheduled group tutoring in MOST credit courses is offered to students who are enrolled in credit classes.

Tutoring in the following areas are rarely requested. If we have at least five requests for tutoring in any area, we will do our best to hire tutors to meet the need.

Our tutors are professional and peer tutors, many of whom have been certified by the College Reading and Learning Association.
Students interested in receiving tutoring need to fill out and submit the following forms to our office before a tutor can be assigned.
We need additional tutors in many areas including accounting, sciences, computer science, and nursing.
Study Skills and Other Services
In addition to group and individual tutoring in most credit subjects, we offer a Write Room, for walk-in assistance in English, and a series of study skills workshops and math reviews.
