At your first appointment you should expect the DSS counselor to discuss with you the following:

  • If you prefer to pick up a documentation verification form (for your physician or therapist to complete) at your initial meeting, that is fine as well.
  • Think about the following questions. You may wish to write down the answers and bring them with you to the meeting.  Some students bring a list of their own questions as well:

What is my disability and how does it affect me in the classroom?
What are my strengths and weaknesses as a student?
What types of assistance would be helpful for me at HCC?

When You Come to Your Appointment with a DSS Counselor:

  • Bring your documentation. (If you do not have disability documentation or are unsure of what you need to provide,
let your counselor know and she will review documentation guidelines with you at your meeting.)
  • Bring any notes/questions you have.

DSS is located in RCF 302. It is the building at the end of the quad with the cafeteria on the ground floor.

Take the elevators up to the third floor and they open directly in front of suite 302.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
