Coach Carey has coached lacrosse at the competitive club level. She serves as a licensed official for high school and club lacrosse and field hockey in Howard and Carroll counties. She led Howard County's youth and lacrosse programs from 1990 and 2008.

Carey played high school lacrosse at the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Greenwich, CT. She then went on to attend Marist College, playing club ball since the college did not field a varsity team. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Advertising and Communications.

Carey resides in Clarksville with her husband Greg, daughter Ali, and sons Collins and Christopher. Keeping with the family tradition, Collins played lacrosse at Brown University and Ali is currently playing lacrosse at Bucknell University.
