Coach Edwards received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications Studies at Morgan State University and Master of Liberal Studies Human Resource Management at Towson University. In 2011 she received a Juris Doctor from the University of North Dakota School of Law. In her youth she assisted in creating the only Baltimore City Girls' National AAU team in which she played. She served in the U.S. Army and played on the All Army Women's Team during the 1999 - 2000 seasons.

She was the Assistant Head Coach at the Friends School of Maryland in Baltimore from 2007 - 2009. From 2006 through 2008 she was the Head Varsity Girl's coach at Yeshivat Rambam School of Baltimore. Prior to being named the Head Coach at Howard Community College, Ebony was the Head Coach at Forest Park Senior High School in Baltimore City, where the team was a Class 3A playoff contender.

Currently Ebony serves as an adjunct professor at HCC and runs her own entertainment law business.
