Biotechnology - A.A. Degree (Transfer)
Biotechnology involves the use of microorganisms or biological substances to solve problems, make useful products, or perform specific industrial or manufacturing processes. Applications include the production of pharmaceuticals, synthetic hormones, and bulk foodstuffs, as well as the bioconversion of organic waste and the use of genetically altered bacteria in the cleanup of oil spills. This associate degree transfer program prepares students for continued study at a four-year institution and a career in a government laboratory, pharmaceutical firm, or bioengineering laboratory setting.
