Composting and Soil Health *NEW*
What is really going on inside your garden’s dirt and compost pile? Take a look at its condition, the foundation of your garden. You will learn how to take a soil test and analyze it. You will review organically-approved materials that you can use to improve your soil, based on its current state. Some plants, called cover crops, can also be grown to improve your soil, and you will also discuss best garden practices, like crop rotation, to care for the long-term health of our soil. For those who struggle with a compost pile or are too intimidated to start one, you will consider the wide range
of composting options so everyone can recycle their food “waste” into “black gold.” Instructor Christian Melendez is a former teacher and knowledgeable about all things involving gardens and soil.
