Motorcycle Safety - Rider School

For details about vital requirements and required motorcycle safety gear, please click on "View Requirements" beneath the course you're interested in below. Please note that you can only view open courses from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. daily.

Motorcycle License-Earning Courses

Basic Rider Course
This is the course most people choose. It is right for you if:

  • You've never ridden a motorcycle
  • You have limited riding experience.
  • You haven't ridden in a long time.
  • You want the most information about safety and road skills.

Cost: $345

Back By Popular Demand: Basic Rider Course for Women

Are you a woman who would like to obtain a motorcycle license but would prefer doing so in a setting with only women? Act now to secure a spot in our once-a-year class: Basic Rider Course for Women, which will be held Monday, June 19-Sunday, June 25. This class is limited to 12 students and will fill quickly. Absolute Beginner Basic Rider Course
Most classes are two evenings and two weekend days. Choose this course if:

  • You want to learn to ride, but you're a little nervous about it.
  • You'd like a smaller class sizes and more individualized instruction.

Cost: $460

Alternate Basic Rider Course
This is a shorter, more advanced version of the basic-level course that is completed in just one day. This course is right for you if:

  • You are an experienced rider with recent road time who needs to earn a license.
  • You don't need to learn the most about safety and road skills.
  • If you have any doubt at all about whether this course is right for you, take the Basic Rider course.

Cost: $260

Improve Your Motorcycle Ride

Extra Practice in Basic Riding Course **Rider School Exclusive**
These classes are small, include 2.5 hours of personalized instruction, and the instructor will tailor the content to whatever you'd like. This class is ideal if:                                

  • You've completed a licensing course (anywhere) and you want additional seat time.
  • You're interested in a spring or summer "tune up."

Cost: $55, nonrefundable

Experienced Rider Course/BRC 2
During nine riding exercises in a seven-hour session, instructors will advise you about how to improve skills and eliminate bad habits. At the end, you'll receive an ERC completion card. Specifically, this class is recommended if:

  •   You have a Class "M" license and want to refine your skills.
  •   You need the ERC to ride on a military base.
  •   You have your own two-wheeled motorcycle, which is licensed and insured and can pass our safety inspection.

Cost: $230, nonrefundable

Private Instruction
Do you have a few riding skills that you'd like to improve? Work with one of our most experienced instructors on exactly what you want to learn. This class is good if:

  • You have taken a riding course or are looking to retake a riding course.                                          
  • You are looking for a spring or summer "tune up".
  • Pay for just the time you need and schedule a time that works for you. Call 443-518-4808 for more information.
    Cost: $45 per hour. Motorcycle rental: $10 additional per hour if needed.​
