Class days and times vary depending on the course. See below for more details.
License-Earning Motorcycle Courses
The Basic Rider Course (BRC) and the Absolute Beginner Basic Rider Course (ABC) require the completion of a three-hour online component before class meets. Students will be required to bring proof of completion to class. Students must provide a valid email address at time of registration in order to receive instructions to access the online module. If you do not receive instructions one week before your class starts, please call 443-518-4808. Students may arrange for access to HCC computer labs, if needed, to complete this portion.
Basic Rider Course
This is our most popular course. It is for you if you've never ridden a motorcycle, you have limited riding experience, haven't ridden in a long time or could benefit from comprehensive information about safety and road skills.
Scheduling: Three-hour MSF eCourse, two evening classroom sessions and two range sessions
- Classroom sessions on Monday and Wednesday evenings
- Range sessions on Saturday and Sunday morning or afternoon
- Weekday classes are also available, starting Monday and finishing Wednesday
Back By Popular Demand: Basic Rider Course for Women
Are you a woman who would like to obtain a motorcycle license but would prefer doing so in a setting with only women? Act now to secure a spot in our once-a-year class: Basic Rider Course for Women, which will be held Monday, June 4; Wednesday June 6; Saturday, June 9; and Sunday, June 10. This class is limited to 12 students and will fill quickly. Call 443-518-4808 for more information.
Absolute Beginner Course
This course offers smaller class sizes and more individualized instruction. If you want to learn to ride, but you're a little nervous about it, this is a good fit.
Scheduling: Three-hour MSF eCourse, two evenings and two weekend days
Daytime classes are also available on weekdays
Alternate Basic Rider Course
This is a shorter, more advanced version of the basic-level course that is completed in just one day. This is for you if you're an experienced rider with recent road time who needs to earn a license. Note: If you have any doubt at all about whether this course is right for you, choose the Basic Rider course.
Improve Your Ride
Extra Practice in Basic Riding Course
A Rider School Exclusive
These small classes include two hours of personalized instruction, and the instructor will tailor the content to meet your needs. This is an ideal choice if you've completed a licensing course (anywhere) and you want additional seat time or if you're looking simply looking for a "tune up."
Cost: $55, nonrefundable
Experienced Rider Course/BRC 2
During nine riding exercises, instructors will advise you about how to improve skills and eliminate bad habits. At the end, you'll receive an ERC completion card. Specifically, this class is recommended if you have a Class "M" license and want to refine your skills or you need the ERC to ride on a military installation. You should have your own two-wheeled motorcycle, which is licensed and insured and can pass our safety inspection. Call 443-518-4971 for registration information.
Cost: $230, nonrefundable
Do you have a few riding skills that you'd like to improve? Work with one of our most experienced instructors on exactly what you want to learn, whether or not you have taken a riding course. Pay for just the time you need and schedule a time that works for you.
Cost: $45 per hour. Motorcycle rental: $10 additional per hour if needed.
