Become an Ophthalmic Technician Assistant
Gain the theory and practical skills you need to work as an ophthalmic technician assistant. As an entry-level ophthalmic technician assistant, you will:
- Conduct patient histories
- Assist with eye exams
- Set up and clean up exam rooms
- Provide patient education
After successful completion of training, you will be eligible to register for the mandatory internship associated with course completion.
This course includes an online component as well as mandatory skills/lab sessions.
How to Register
In order to register for this class, you must:
- Meet with the division coordinator to show proof of high school diploma/GED (or pass a Math and English assessment test).
- Pass a criminal background check.
- Complete health forms required for patient contact.

Scheduled Course for the Upcoming Term
You must take both the Theory and Clinical sections:
Ophthalmic Technician Assistant Training (XH-580 7115 #8780)
Sat, 9am-4pm, Apr 21-Jun 2
Orientation on Apr 14, 9 am-12 pm
Cost: $1,225 (includes $740 in fees*)

Ophthalmic Technician Assistant Clinical (XH-581 7121 #8786)
Students spend one week working in an Ophthalmic office.
Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm, Jun 4-Jun 8 (days of clinical are subject to change)
