Honors Programs

Distinguish yourself and your transcript by applying to a Howard Community College Honors Program in Maryland! These supportive learning communities help prepare you for transfer and advanced learning by providing challenging coursework, leadership development, and opportunities for travel.

In addition to these Honors programs, academic recognition may also be earned through membership in national honor societies such as HCC’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, nomination to the Dean’s List, and Graduation with Honors.  

 
Rouse Scholars
FOR GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS:
The nationally acclaimed James W. Rouse Scholars Program is a selective honors and leadership program for incoming high school seniors. It prepares students for transfer to many of the nation’s most distinguished colleges and universities.
 
Schoenbrodt Honors
FOR NEW & CURRENT HCC STUDENTS:
Open to qualified, motivated full and part-time students of all ages and majors, the Frederick K. Schoenbrodt Scholars Program offers a rewarding learning opportunity through honors curriculum and academic/cultural events.
 
STEM Scholars
FOR NEW & CURRENT HCC STUDENTS:
The STEM Scholars Honors Program in Maryland is a selective and challenging honors program for graduating high school seniors and current HCC students that brings together students interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) majors.
