HCC offers many resources to assist students with their pathways to success. Students enrolled in English and World Languages Division courses often benefit from the following areas:
Composition and Literature Center: This writing center offers free walk-in individual tutoring for students enrolled in ENGL- or FYEX- courses, as well as computers, printers, and study spaces for students to work on these courses. Visit DH 210 for hours and info.
Learning Assistance Center/Write Room: The Write Room is located inside the Learning Assistance Center (RCF 340). The instructors offer free assistance in all stages of the writing process for any credit course with written assignments. Students are asked to bring a copy of the assignment and any work in progress. View the link for drop-in hours.
Library: Knowledgeable and helpful library staff are available to help you with class research, connect you to the right resources, and even suggest books to read for pleasure outside of class.
Pronunciation Lab: The ESL Pronunciation Lab assists English language learners who are enrolled in credit classes. ESL Pronunciation Lab coaches offer individualized practice in pronunciation, presentation skills, academic discussion skills, and interview skills. The Lab is open Mondays and Tuesdays 11:00-12:00, and Wednesdays and Thursdays 3:00-4:00 PM in DH-210, starting September 6th. For more information, contact Nancy Hutchison at NHutchison@howardcc.edu.
