Mediation and Conflict Resolution Center
VISION STATEMENT
The Howard County community resolves conflicts in a peaceful manner through dialogue and mediation.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Mediation and Conflict Resolution Center (MCRC) at Howard Community College promotes peaceful resolution of conflicts by providing mediation and conflict resolution education and training to the Howard County community.
CORE VALUES
The MCRC strives to help people in conflict by providing them with skills that will improve the quality of their lives and strengthen their interpersonal relationships, thus making a positive impact in the community through early intervention and preventative services.
Dialogue. To promote and practice open communication among ourselves and with all members of our community.
Provide Accessibility. To make mediation and conflict resolution accessible to the Howard County community by providing services for free or on a sliding scale and by scheduling sessions that are convenient for the participants.
Learn. To seek and use opportunities for personal growth, lifelong learning, and the practice of conflict resolution—to teach others, particularly young people, how to peacefully resolve conflicts.
Flexibility. To encourage and support change when it improves our conflict resolution services.
Respect Diversity. To embrace and try to understand the differences among people and cultures as an important part of our work.
