Government AffairsHCC is dedicated to ensuring that federal, state and local elected officials and business decision makers understand the needs of HCC students.
The Development, Alumni, and Government Affairs Office is responsible for conveying those student needs to elected officials. HCC works independently, and in concert with the Maryland Association of Community Colleges (MACC) and the other 15 community colleges in the state to pursue a state-focused legislative agenda that collectively addresses the needs of Maryland’s community colleges. The staff also works closely with the American Association of Community Colleges and Association of Community College Trustees (both located in Washington, DC) to deliver the community college message to the US Congress and the White House. The office also liaises with the Howard County Executive and the Howard County Council.
