Gift Bricks
Nobody likes the idea of being walked on; but in this case, it is for a great cause! The construction of new buildings, brick walkways and beautiful landscaping in the Quad have brought a traditional look to our campus. Engraved gift bricks are part of these brick walkways. This ongoing, college-wide fundraiser benefits the Alumni Endowment.  The Alumni Association coordinates the sales of personalized gift bricks. Be a part of history while helping to build our future. Hundreds of people walk on the bricks each day and will see your lasting tribute! You may engrave three lines/15 characters per line. The cost is $90.

Purchase an engraved brick/s to:

  • mark any special occasion
  • celebrate a graduation
  • memorialize a loved one
  • preserve your own HCC memories
  • recognize a favorite teacher, colleague, or mentor
  • create a legacy for your club, family, business, or yourself.

If you have already purchased a brick, stop by the fountain in the HCC quad and check them out!  The first group of bricks was installed on August 8, 2003.  The most recent group was installed in November of 2007.  If you have not purchased a brick yet, it is not too late.  This is an ongoing project.

Diploma Frames
(prices effective May 2001)

You worked hard for your Howard Community College degree or certificate and you should be proud of your accomplishment.  To display your diploma, the Development, Alumni, and Government Affairs office offers three styles of frames that make diploma framing easy--polished gold, regular wood and the Diplomat wood. All frames come with a burgundy mat that has the college's logo embossed in gold. (Samples are on display at the Development Office and the HCC Bookstore.) Instructions are easy to follow and will make your diploma look like it was professionally framed. Orders take approximately two weeks to process and the frame is mailed directly to your home. Frames can also be mailed directly to a third party if this is a gift purchase.

There are two sizes available - 11x13 frames for graduating classes prior to 2000 or 12x15 frames for graduating classes after 2000. The polished gold frame is $46.45 (11x13) and $52.40 (12x15); regular wood frame is $65.69 (11x13) and $72.40 (12x15); and the Diplomat frame is $131.29 (11x13) and $146.40 (12x15). Taxes, shipping and handling fees are included in the total cost.

To purchase your diploma frame, please contact the Development, Alumni, and Government Affairs Office at 410-772-4450.  You can request a diploma frame order form that can be used with cash, check, or credit card payments.  Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover are accepted. You can also purchase online

Student Mentoring
Alumni, here is your chance to help an HCC student decide on his or her future.  Give a student a glimpse into your career field.  Career Services would like to provide opportunities for HCC students to gain first-hand knowledge about career opportunities through contacts with members of the community, local organizations, and businesses.  You can assist a student by:

  • serving as a mentor and helping a student plan his/her future;
  • offering an opportunity for a student to work as an intern in your company;
  • inviting a student to visit you at work and shadow you for a short period of time; or
  • becoming a speaker at one of our Career Information Series programs to inform students about your career field.

Think about the impact a few hours of your time can have on the future of a student!  Please call Career Services at 410-772-4636 if you are interested.
